Migrating the restored data to B2 is a good option but not free.

But I'm not sure it was really designed for a full hard drive restore. Life shouldn't be rewarding my mistakes, but in this case it did.Īnd I hear the others talk about restore issues with the web UI in backblaze. So never got the renewal or warnings about expiry emails.Īnyhow, figured out the forwarding problem, was a new security setting Microsoft put in place to block outbound forwarding by default on their service, so had to make the shared mailbox an exception rule. It was sending emails to a generic group mailbox where the email forwarding to the main account got turned off by accident. Letting the account expire was a mistake. It was a little over the 2 week point when they delete the data so it was counted as a "new" customer. Was able to use this for a computer that used to have backblaze coverage but let it expire. It costs more and you don't get unlimited storage, but it's fast and reachable at anytime. Personally, I would steer people towards Dropbox/Google 1. I did hear good things about their more expensive B2 services. Uploading was pretty slow and the app bugged out, and recognized my existing drives as new ones, causing the app to backup the same files. I never had to use their services luckily but I had just a terrible experience with it.

My zip files got corrupted a couple times and i had to start the process all over, the 30 days they kept the files before they removed them unless I paid to upgrade was super uncomfortable.
The process for retrieving those files took almost two weeks, crashed frequently, their tool for downloading backups was awful and they were super dismissive about what a shit tool they gave you for retrieving them, they had to package the contents of my drive into three zips limited to a few hundred gb each. Didn't want to fuss around with getting drives mailed to me and mailed back since I have gigabit internet and extra drives already. After several years at $50.Īny idea if this is valid for a renewal, and if I can purchase the renewal in advance? My renewal isn’t until March.įrom my point of view around a year ago jt sucked getting my 1.5TB backup. Super frustrating, but at least I got all my data back.Īlso two price increases in the last two years. You have to select certain amounts of data per transfer and you have to guess how much you’ve selected each time. And you can just say “restore everything”.
Slow as hell, restores would cancel half way through, downloads would randomly stop. Ya, I had the power supply on my drobo die, so I need to use backblaze to restore the data, and I had the same experience. Seems they were trying to do everything they could to push you into their B2 service back then. Things may be different now but I really doubt it. Hey the thing about backblaze is you don't know how good the service is until you need it.įrom my point of view around a year ago jt sucked getting my 1.5TB backup. I don't think they offer anything longer than the 2yr for now. Please note that this offer is limited to new Computer Backup customers that have not yet purchased a Computer Backup license."Įdit: Oh, also noticed they have 2yr plans, so maybe that's a better deal to some people.

If anyone knows or tries it, put it here. I know they have some addons like extending the duration of their online backup if not connected for longer than 2 weeks or something like that, but not sure if the coupon works for that too. So I believe the $70 1st year would drop to $35.
